KABE Farben has been active in the field of powder coatings for almost 50 years. The continuous pursuit of maximum performance and responsibility towards people and the environment characterises our company's development work.
PFAS: A challenge for people and the environment
Per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances, or PFAS for short, have been used in numerous industrial applications for decades due to their special properties. They have also long been considered indispensable in the manufacture of finely structured powder coatings. However, the widespread use of these substances has led to considerable environmental pollution. PFAS are now detectable in the blood of virtually all humans, a situation that is cause for concern from a health perspective and is increasingly becoming the focus of regulatory attention.
Intensive research
In view of this development, we have invested considerable resources in research and development to create high-performance alternatives. The result: the first powder coatings are now also available as PFAS-free variants. This enables us to respond early on to potentially stricter regulatory requirements.
Range of applications for the new technology
PFAS-free formulations are available for the entire range of applications, including interior products, highly weather-resistant façade products (Qualicoat-certified) and various thermosensitive substrates (medium-density fibreboard, MDF).
Users can flexibly decide which variant is right for their requirements: the established or the new PFAS-free formulations. The PFAS-free products have no restrictions and therefore meet the applicable technical requirements. The baking window, shelf life and complete colour selection correspond to the usual standards.
